Moderate Nitrogen Deposition Alleviates Drought Stress of Bretschneidera sinensis

چکیده

Droughts are becoming more frequent and intense, the nitrogen deposition rate is increasing worldwide due to human activities. Young seedlings of Bretschneidera sinensis Hemsl. susceptible mortality under drought conditions because their root tips have few hairs. We studied effect on physiological characteristics two-year-old B. stress. Seedlings were grown no (control; N0), low (N30, 30 kg·hm−2 year−1), medium (N60, 60 high (N90, 90 subjected either normal watering regime (NW) or stress (DW). Under DW, relative conductivity (RC) receiving N60 was not significantly different from that N0 seedlings, RC N90 higher than seedlings. 10 d treatment increased antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), catalase (CAT) activities content soluble protein, chlorophyll a + b, with POD activity protein by 18.89% 34.66%, respectively. proline (PRO) treated increased. Our data suggested moderate could alleviate decreasing cell membrane permeability, reducing peroxidation, osmoregulatory substances, tendency for decline, whereas sensitivity aggravated degree stress, thereby affecting growth.

Isolation and characterization of polymorphic microsatellite markers in the endangered species Bretschneidera sinensis Hemsl.

Bretschneidera sinensis is an endangered species that is mainly distributed in South China. As a tertiary relict and the single species in the Bretschneideraceae family, it has a high conservation value. To investigate the influence of human disturbance on its mating system, 63 new microsatellites were developed using restriction-site-associated DNA sequencing and their polymorphisms were teste...

Phylogeography and conservation genetics of the rare and relict Bretschneidera sinensis (Akaniaceae)

Bretschneidera sinensis, a class-I protected wild plant in China, is a relic of the ancient Tertiary tropical flora endemic to Asia. However, little is known about its genetics and phylogeography. To elucidate the current phylogeographic patterns and infer the historical population dynamics of B. sinensis, and to make recommendations for its conservation, three non-coding regions of chloroplast...

Nitrogen fixation control under drought stress. Localized or systemic?

Legume-Rhizobium nitrogen fixation is dramatically affected under drought and other environmental constraints. However, it has yet to be established as to whether such regulation of nitrogen fixation is only exerted at the whole-plant level (e.g. by a systemic nitrogen feedback mechanism) or can also occur at a local nodule level. To address this question, nodulated pea (Pisum sativum) plants w...

Exogenous Melatonin Alleviates Cold Stress by Promoting Antioxidant Defense and Redox Homeostasis in Camellia sinensis L.

The unprecedented early spring frost that appears as a cold stress adversely affects growth and productivity in tea (Camellia sinensis L.); therefore, it is indispensable to develop approaches to improve the cold tolerance of tea. Here, we investigated the effect of pretreatment with exogenous melatonin on the net photosynthetic rate, the maximum photochemical efficiency of PSII, chlorophyll co...

Identification of Genes Involved in the Responses of Tangor (C. reticulata × C. sinensis) to Drought Stress

Drought is the major abiotic stress with adverse effects on citrus, decreasing the agronomical yield and influencing the fruit quality. In this study, cDNA-amplified fragment length polymorphism (cDNA-AFLP) technique was used to investigate the transcriptional profile changes and identify drought-responsive genes in "Amakusa" tangor (C. reticulata × C. sinensis), a hybrid citrus sensitive to wa...
